This is a private, invitation-only retreat for our most senior members who are focused on creating change, pioneering innovation, and shaping the future. Through a series of small, peer-to-peer guided conversations, members will explore the future of the general counsel role — transcending the bounds of the legal function and becoming a thought leader who empowers their team members, organizations, and industries beyond.
This event is not for the lawyer seeking CLE credits. This is for leaders interested in having authentic and vulnerable conversations in pursuit of transformative growth.
*By invitation only. Limited to select west-coast based TechGC Charter Members. 3.0-4.0 CA & NY CLE Credits Pending (Reciprocal credit may be available in other states).
**All Activities and Meals are free to TechGC members.
***Proof of COVID-19 vaccination and liability waiver is required to attend. Digital or physical proof will be requested on-site. See additional Health & Safety Precautions Below.
Get comfortable being uncomfortable… what are your weaknesses in leading your legal team? What comes easily to you? We kick off the Summit with authentic conversations in small peer groups to identify where you are before moving forward. After identifying your strengths and weaknesses, reconvene with the group to explore how legal leaders use self-awareness to their advantage.
People love to be inspired. Transformational Leaders are able to motivate others to rise to the occasion; to not just participate, but succeed. How can leaders craft a vision for their organization that is both achievable and effective in mobilizing team members? How do leaders talk about values, priorities, and culture in a way that encourages persistent curiosity? This session will discuss defining your own North Star as a leader and crystallizing the values you use to create a vision for the future of your legal team, your organization, your industry, and yourself.
Great leaders know they are not the most intelligent people in the room. Identifying the right person for the right role is an art. How can leaders build a team to trust and lean on? In this next session, the Language of Empowerment, we focus on not only how to hire and manage a legal team, but how do I partner with, support, and empower my peers, empower my board, my CEO, and empower and drive forward our practice and our industry.
There is no safe path to creating disruptive change. Transformational leaders understand that taking risks is a necessary part of the job. They evaluate and take risks based on the capabilities and vision of the organization, and to push their teams, organizations, and industries forward. In this next session, we will think about the general counsel’s own appetite and approach to risk within the context of your organization and industry.
At a certain point, hard work is table stakes. There is more than the technical practice of law that is required to be a leader. What are you doing to drive the company forward? What is your vision for the future? How are you bringing people along with you? In this session, our speakers will discuss how we as lawyers can move beyond hard work to that last mile, that last 10%? How do you move beyond hard work as a general counsel to become a forward-thinking C-Suite executive?

Maui, known also as “The Valley Isle,” is the second largest Hawaiian island. The island beloved for its world-famous beaches, the sacred Iao Valley, views of migrating humpback whales (during winter months), farm-to-table cuisine and the magnificent sunrise and sunset from Haleakala.
We will be on the leeward side of the island in Ka'anapali (pronounced: kah-nah-pahl-ee; does not rhyme with monopoly). You will find beautiful sandy beaches, gorgeous sunsets, and amazing snorkeling off Black Rock beach (just north of our location).
